We have to tip our hats to Intel for having the AppUp! Center an App Store just for Netbooks. They are taking it the extra mile and set up a fund, a Million Dollar fund to spur innovation and develop new mobile applications for Netbooks. The Intel Atom One Million U.S. Dollar Developer Program Development Fund is open to all software developers and will even supply you with a Netbook test your application on. Netbooks are a new breed of machine whose ultra portable form factor that should inspire new applications that are cognizant of screen size, footprint, connectivity and the understanding that this is usually a secondary machine.
So far the Intel Atom One Million Dollar Development Fund is made up of three individual measures that developers should consider taking advantage sooner rather then later.
Fast Track 2010: This is designed for quick money, for 250 selected validated applications submitted between March 1-31,2010 will receive $500 which will be paid in your local.
Dollars for Download 2010: 100 selected validated applications submitted between March 1-31st, 2010 will receive additional revenue per download from Intel. This even applies to Free Applications! For every download the developer will get $2, but no more than $5000 per free app and $25,000 per application. If you have more then one app you’ll be happy to hear that this isn’t by developer but by application.
The Intel Atom Developer Challenge goes on to the next round offering a number of attractive prizes. They will have more information here on March 9th, 2010 which happens to be during GDC when Netbook News will be hunting down the Intel team to find out more.
