Not only is the Galaxy Tab 10.1 up for pre-order but also the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4″ and 5″ media tablets / PMPs. The smaller 4-inch version costs $229 while the larger 5-inch version is $269.99. Both in white. No ETAs on either but we last heard they’d be out this month.

The 5-inch version has Android 2.2 Froyo, a 5″ 800 x 480 display, 1Ghz Cortex-A8 chip (Hummingbird I presume), 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, VGA / 3MP cameras with Flash, GPS, compass, accelerometer, MicroSD card slot and a 2500 mAh battery.

The 4-inch version is almost identical in looks and specs but sports a “Super Clear LCD” on that 4-inch screen rather than some bottom end TFT along with a smaller 1200 mAh battery and has Skype preloaded.

The 5″ model seems rather attractive considering it is about the biggest device I could fit in my pocket, it has a good-sized screen for watching movies, and it has a beefy 2500 mAh battery that should be able to power it for hours on end. I’m liking that there is Samsung’s fancy-shmancy proprietary sound technologies and Bluetooth 3.0, should make for a quality audio experience. The front-facing camera and video-chat integration is a bonus to me. Access to the Android Market is another big thing, it’d be nice to mooch of those free or cheap apps without having to pay for a fully-fledged smartphone. GPS in another nice touch, full Google navigation, maps, etc services should be snappy. Hoping that Sammy comes out with a 32 or even 64 GB version soon along with gingerbread for these things and that when these hit more online markets they become cheaper. I’ve been waiting for a quality, non-Apple, Wi-Fi PMP that is capable enough to fill the gap between my feature phone’s abilities and a smartphone’s abilities. With Sammy quality, this looks to be the one, hope to get one soon!
