The FCC tipped us off that the N9 was making its way to US shores and now we’ve got a commercial confirming its intentions. Pocketnow has a teaser of the infamous MeeGo handset, there has been much debate whether or not this is in fact a MeeGo handset and the official MeeGo facebook fanpage has settled it confirming it is in fact Linux based. The expected operating system is MeeGo though technically it is Maemo 6 with MeeGo bindings.

The UI appears to be similar with the Anna release of Symbian rather than some of the prototypes MeeGo UIs that we’ve seen in the past. Although elements like the status bar and multitasking appear different from what we’ve seen of that version of Symbian and are perhaps drawn from MeeGo.

The Camera of the QWERTY keyboard device appears to be auto focus and Carl Zeiss to boot and not of the much criticized EDoF variety. Here is the teaser below for you to check out the open source goodness for your self.
