Could iPad pre-orders start as early as next week? According to AppAdvice.com, it seems like a possibility. The website cites a “source familiar with the matter” that says US-only presales could begin as soon as February 25.
We know that this is the rumor mill at work, although Apple has made products available via pre-order in the past. iPhone-related pre-orders were through the carriers, so take this for what it is: a rumor.
We still have questions about Flash and a serious lack of ports on this tablet that looks like a second class citizen compared to Notion Inks Adam. But for the iPad Steve Jobs said that the Wi-Fi units would start shipping about 60 days after the announcement (putting us at the end of March) with the 3G models to follow a month later. There is no official news and thus far, potential customers have been asked to fill out a “notify me” form at Apple’s website for more information.
February 25 would be about a month ahead of the projected release date, which would give Apple more time to rev up its production to meet pre-order demand and stock stores.
Enjoy this bit of gossip!!
