In timely fashion, a month following this tablet’s appearance at the FCC, the Huawei IDEOS S7 Slim 7-inch Android tablet is now available to buy in the US at Best Buy as spotted by a Pocketables writer, who compares it to his two other 7-inch Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry Playbook tablets.
$299.99 gets you a 7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touch display, Android 2.2 Froyo, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chip (single core), front and rear cameras (one is 3.2MP), b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, GPS, microSD card slot, mini USB, mini HDMI and headset jack. Nothing mentioned about 3G or SIM card.
One of a couple of promo videos Huawei published earlier this month that makes the tablet look more appealing:
I’m not too sure I like that price. I’d rather go for the $249 NOOK Color and root it, if I’m ever going to get a budget tablet or shell out the extra $50 it takes for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi only. Speaking of Huawei, we’re wondering what is going on with their much more impressive Ideos S7 Slim with its 7-inch 1280 x 800 display and Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor wrapped in a higher quality chassis.
