Even if your hat is red you’ll still want to tip it to Apple’s iPad for coming up the ranks in since April of 2010 to over take Linux Operating Systems.

These market share numbers are from Statcounter and are based on visitor statistics averaged from 3+ million websites. In other words, they represent computers used to access the Web. Mobile phones and other small-screen devices are not included, meaning the iPhone and iPod aren’t included in these numbers.

Its hard to believe that there are more tablets accessing the internet than Linux Computer!

There can be a fairly significant margin of error in these type of surveys. Considering Linux users are more likely to surf anomalously, which is a reason why even Window users often use Linux for safe browsing, and the accuracy of such surveys are open to how well the sites are equipped with the monitoring system and whether the sites visited are relatively the same for all users or not.

Like Windows users are far more likely to visit a MS related site than a Linus user for example.

And I find it doubtful they can always accurately tell the difference between an iPhone and a iPad when both use iOS and basically the same hardware.
