Looks like Intel jumped the gun on ASUS when they posted word that the Slider was coming with Oak Trail. Intel has since corrected this wrong by pulling the Slider from their site. The information went live at IDF Beijing last week, but since ASUS has no plans on delivering the Slider with Oak Trail it had to be taken down.
That is not to say that ASUS doesn’t have plans to release an Oak Trail tablet, I would be shocked if they didn’t! As ASUS is well known for developing on everything then seeing what sticks!
Notebook Italia reported that the Slider is going to get an update but it probably not going to be to Oak Trail. My question is going to be what processor has similar thermal’s as Tegra? They won’t want to redesign the chassis, I’d have to take a closer look at how much venting the Slider is packing as all Oak Trail devices require some decent vents.
So what Oak Trail device is ASUS launching? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see!
