Watch out for pen enabled tablets and other devices from ASUS later this year sporting both pen and multi-touch finger / gesture input but with a new technology - Neonode’s ZForce. That also includes input from anything, not just fingers and it’s fine with gloves if this demo video at the bottom of the post is any indication.
According to the Neonode’s product page, the advantages of ZForce are that it is very thin and light, relatively cheap and offers a better viewing experience as there’s no need for any overflow on the screen like with capacitive or resistive solutions. Sony is another company Neonode is working with among with numerous other “global OEMs” for productings such as mobile phones, e-readers, MIDs and tablets.
