We can’t say that we are surprised to hear this rumor, actually several ODMs mentioned to us at IDF Beijing 2011 that they were simply waiting on Google to get Android 3.0. Since its only April and there are 8 and a half months left in the year this isn’t really much of question. The only question that we can see at this stage in the game is how long are some of these smaller ODMs that I talked to in China going to have to wait for Honeycomb?

The platform is reportedly called PRC Plus and the idea is that hardware makers can save on Windows licensing costs by using the open source Android operating system, but offer more performance than you would get from an ARM-based chipset.
Brad over at Liliputing noted that this might by why Gigabyte launching dual boot Android/Windows tablets this Fall. It would also explain why portions of the Android 3.0 source code seem to show support for x86 processors.
I guess the only real question apart from exactly when they are going to hit the streets is are they going to support accelerated media decoding/transcoding like Tegra or ION devices?
