Along with Oak Trail, Intel has gone official with Cedar Trail – the newest generation of Atom processor aimed at the netbook and bottom end desktop segments. Here’s Intel’s presentation over at IDF Beijing. All we’ve got is a demo (below) showing off the platform’s new wireless music, video streaming and file sharing features, a quick hold up of a prototype model and a promise that Cedar Trail netbooks will be here ready by the end of 2011, ready for the holiday sales although the press release says we can expect them anytime in the second half of this year. We haven’t witnessed anything to indicate how powerful the new platform is in terms of raw processing power, not that we expect much over Pine Trail. No technical details yet such as SKUs, TDP and processing speeds.
New features for Cedar Trail:
- 32nm manufacturing process
- Intel Wireless Music
- Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)
- PC Synch
- Fast boot / standby
- Fanless, cool and quiet netbooks / devices
- More battery life
- 1080p HD video playback
- Blu-ray 2.0 playback
- HDMI output
- DisplayPort output
- OS compatibility: Chrome OS, Android, MeeGo and Windows
- Intel AppUp pre-loaded (already available in Western countries)
