This goes over the basics of the iPad and how it relates to Netbooks and the Kindle. I disagree with the statements around the Kindle having great ePaper that you can use at the beach, but never the less its a nice round up.

People buy ereaders so they don't have to buy paper books. They don't buy it so they can watch video, store photos or surf the internet. People are at home, the have a home pc. If they want to surf outside the house they have a netbook. A tablet is essentially a glorified smartphone. People are really overstating the potential of tablets. They aren't replacing anything entirely. Because of that, they will not take over. At least with a netbook, it's light, long lasting, connected, keyboard and can also read an ebook or two. I would pay more for a more limited tablet? I don't think so. Not a chance in hell.
