Sales numbers on the iPad 2 are pretty hard to come by if you don’t want to wait until Apple’s official financial statements but you can get rough estimates from component manufacturers. Component manufacturers TPK Touch Solutions & G-Tech Optoelectronics are expanding their operations to keep up with demand. It seems that touch panels and cover lenses for touch panels are in hot demand and key to Apple making its Q2 shipment goals, according to sources at upstream touch panel suppliers.
According to sources close to Digitimes Apple took delivery of 2.4-2.6 million units in March. Their source makes future shipment predictions of 4-4.3 million units a month adding up to over 12 million units sold in Q2.
