Tablets in the following years will become increasingly thinner, gain higher resolution displays, consume less power and gain more battery life. Yeah, we can all see that coming, but how five years from now? If Samsung’s on the ball (according to the company’s display strategy this year), we can expect ‘Ultra slim’ tablets with 10 hours of battery life and “Retina Display” worthy resolutions of 300 – 400 ppi five years down the road. Sounds like next year’s iPad 3, no?
Along the way we can expect Samsung tablets with 200 – 300 ppi resolution displays all while maintaining 8 hours of battery life, with some glassless 3D action thrown in for good measure. Nobody’s complaining – well, expect for the 3D displays. Strangely this display strategy of theirs lacks any mention of display technologies. When are we getting our AMOLED displays on tablets?
