Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 – Thinner & lighter than the iPad 2

CTIA is the launching ground for Samsung’s latest tablet the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, which menas their lineup will come with a size for everyone: 4, 5, 7, 8.9 to 10.1 inch. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is turning out to be a very attractive device running Android 3.0 or “Honeycomb” and the leaked specs show that the new tablet will be 8.6 millimeters & 470 grams which is a bit thinner then the Apple iPad 2 .

To be exact, Apple’s new tablet is just 0.2 millimeters thicker and its 601 grams makes it a significantly heavier. Samsung also promises its own UI customization with ‘Mini Apps Tray’ which will offer easy switching between multiple applications. With its Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor and the high resolution of 1280 × 800 resolution to make this a very competitive tablet.

    now this looks amazing, 9″ tablet with 10″ resolution, thinner/lighter than the iPad. the only real downside seems to be Samsung UI but we will have to wait to see it in action 1st.

    The Galaxy Tab is gorgeous! I think the 8.9 inch is the one for me. It is small and portable, and has a large enough screen so I am not really missing out on anything. I love how Samsung redesigned the tablet right after the iPad 2 was released. As soon as they release this tablet I am going to be first to get one! It looks simply beautiful. After I get my Galaxy Tab, I am going to download the DISH Remote Access app. Using this app and the 722k receiver with a Sling Adapter, I can stream live TV and my recordings to my tablet. As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I can say that this app will look beautiful on the Galaxy Tab! I am so excited to get one, I can hardly wait!
