Ever since that leaked Dell Tablet roadmap showed a Windows 8 tablet at the start of 2012, there has been plenty of news and rumors about Windows 8 being earlier in development than most thought, at least on the ARM front. ZDNet‘s Mary Jo, who’s on top of most things Windows, has heard otherwise and says the tablet will most likely just be a tech demo for when the OS shows up at the end of 2012.

Business Insider suspects we’ll see a public presentation of a Beta version well before that, possibly in June, the end of the Fiscal year for Microsoft. Their source confirms earlier rumors that the OS will borrow from their “Metro” interface seen on Windows 7 Phone and adds that they will be taking an “Apple-like approach” to interface design this time around.
