ASUS has today launched a new Netbook, the Eee PC 1008P Karim Rashid Collection is a stock Pine Trail-powered 10.1″ model with a 250GB Hard Drive and 802.11n WiFi (basically an updated 1008HA). What makes it stand out from the crowd, however is it’s ‘stylish’ case (perhaps even as stylish as the M-Budget model we saw yesterday?), which sports a fake alligator-skin design available in Hot Pink or Coffee Brown, for the princely sum of NT$18,998 (or about US$600, although right now it’s on Amazon for $500). Tempted? There’s more!
ASUS have also hooked up with perfumery Kenzo Parfums, who will be displaying one of their fragrances alongside the 1008P in Taipei this Tuesday due to their “shared design”. All seems a bit high-concept for a Netbook, especially from ASUS, the kings of budget models.
It would also appear the Karim Rashid Collection’s beauty is only skin deep – it only has a 3-cell battery so even with the more efficient N450 under the hood you’ll still only be getting about 3.5hours from it.
