Update: Fujitsu’s gone official with the Stylistic Q550 tablet in the US. Set to ship at around the same time (Spring) with pricing starting at under $800. One more detail that I hadn’t heard of earlier – an IPS glare with an anti-glare coating on the screen. The rest of the specs are below. Official promo video below. via SlashGear
While we should hear more about Fujitsu’s Stylistic Q550 for the western market during CeBIT, the tablet has launched in Japan and will go on sale in April or May with pricing at around 89,000 – 99,000 yen. That works out to be around $1,000 – $1,200 with a straight conversion. Chop off a couple of hundred and you’ll get a more suitable price of around $800 – $1,000. Mind you, this isn’t a tablet intended for the general consumer. Fujitsu’s next tablet will cover that market and may be an Android tablet (surprised?).
The Stylistic Q550 has a 10.1″ 1280 x 720 resolution display (so not 1366 x 768 as we’ve heard?) IPS and anti-glare coating, active digitizer and stylus, 2GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB SSD, an Intel Oak Trail Atom Z760 processor (1.5GHz single core), Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, HDMI, optional 3G, USB ports, Windows 7 32-bit and a removable battery. Weighs 1.5 pounds. There are a couple of corporate level features such as a smart card and fingerprint reader.
Akihabaranews has a video and plenty of photos from today’s event. They digged the fantastic build quality and design but thought Windows 7 ran a bit sluggishly on it.
