Netbook News is always on the road and over the next fews weeks I’m actually going to be making some stops that I could use your help with.

On Thursday the 21st I’m going to be in Hillsboro, Oregon taking a behind the scene’s tour of the Intel App Up labs and getting down and dirty with the Atom Team.

I’m taking a pretty keen interest in what’s going on with App Up! because its an application store for Netbooks. Finally!!! Someone realizes that a netbook doesn’t use the same apps or programs as smartphones and because they are more mobile than any laptop in history we can use them in different ways.

When I mentioned this travel tidbit to the guys at App Up! well, they turned right around and said, “We are constantly working on apps, what kind of app are you looking for to bring with you on your journey?”

Now, I like to think I know a thing or two about netbooks but I would be arrogant to think that my answer is the only answer that matters. So if you were sitting across from a team of developers that were going to build the perfect netbook application, what would your answer be?

A few months ago, I got to test the ASUS EEE Keyboard. When I gave it back I offered my feedback saying I believed it should be DLNA compatible or be using Windows 7. Windows 7 was out of Asus’ budget for the device, so the firm tweaked a project it was already working on and made virtual DLNA software. Just download it onto any computer and its like you have windows 7 or DLNA compatible devices.

It’s not because my opinions are industry defining that ASUS built me an app, but because I took the time to tell the firm what I thought. I’m going to be sitting down with the Intel App Up developer team next week, so if you were in my shoes, what kind of App would you tell them to build??

A few of my favorites – location based services and file sharing are the two that come to mind immediately. If you don’t know much about App Up! an application store for Netbooks, watch this video to learn more about it.

How about some kind of more in-depth power management software a-la Android 2.1? When I boot to Windows 7 it switches my Bluetooth on by default, which makes my battery weep. Netbooks are all about battery life, and the Windows profiles aren't nearly in-depth enough (Not to mention most companies bundled power software is horrendous).
