Update: Amazon Germany now has the Iconia W500 tablet up for order. Two models with the same specs. 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 Home Premium, AMD C-50, ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics. 499 euros for the tablet part, or 599 euros for the tablet and keyboard dock.

Will Acer’s AMD Fusion based 10-inch Iconia (W500) tablet with dock retail soon in Europe? Store listings are starting to appear in parts of Europe through European based price comparison engine Skinflint. Priced at 499 euros for the WiFi model (there’s supposed to be a 3G model as well) but no stores with it in stock currently. The specs list 9W for the AMD C-50 although we’ve heard that it will be shipping with a 5W TDP version built for tablets and it’s not likely whoever’s putting up these listings knows that.

The specs – a 10.1″ 1280 x 800 capacitive multi-touch display, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, AMD C-50 processor (9W), ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics, up to 2GB DDR3 RAM, 32GB SSD (mSATA), Dolby Audio, dual 1.3MP webcams, Bluetooth 3.0+EDR, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, USB 2.0, HDMI, mini SIM, 2-in-1 card reader and audio jack. 3-cell battery with a weight of 970g. The dock weighs 610g.

Android wouldn’t hurt – there is no license cost afaik ;)
I can still put anything on the pad if I wanted.

Just Win7 is a preselection, that cost me money.

who told you Android doesn’t cost money at all, it will cost OEMs some $$ for google services but less expensive compared to win7.

Might be the case, if its a “Powered by Google” Android OS Flavor. But if you build your own version from sources, who charges?

Well there is no official port of Android to x86, the inofficial is still porting to the recent Android version. You can run Android of W7 though, this was shown with another tablet. Ubuntu or even better Meego for Netbooks or Tablet UX is much more interesting for that device.
The price gets interesting if you sell of W7…

If I was buying a tablet, I’d want this one, though with more RAM and larger SSD. Wish the battery was bigger though. I don’t know the feasability of this cost-wise but I wish more netbooks and tablets were OEM-customizable (more RAM, different OS etc.)

This computer tablet looks great. Specially the fact it has HDMI port and support for Adobe Flash. I would love to buy this.

I have a feeling the tablet market is going to get VERY crowded in the coming months. I still think Xoom is the one to beat right now!

Really? Im using the xoom right now and I’m not impressed at all! The SD still doesn’t work so i have to re-hack it every few days. Plus its not compatible with OSX so I can’t auto sync anything! What good is a tablet that you can’t easily put information on to?
