When I was 11 I actually went to school on a snow day because I had 1 hour with a computer that had a bunch of programs I didn’t have at home. Was I a geek back then? I actually don’t think so, having tech in the classroom even if you already have it at home keeps kids excited about learning. Brainchild has unveiled an Android tablet specifically designed for the classroom called Kineo.

Its obviously rugged and designed to be dropped and thrown across the room and offers a touch screen that is good for up to 500,000 impressions. This is actually something I don’t see very often in technology write ups, I’m going to have to look into what the average screen impression life span on the iPad or Galaxy Tab. If you know I’d be interested for a link or two.

Looking further at the specs its got a battery life of 10-12 hours, wifi 800 x 480 screen resolution and a 800MHz dual core CPU with 2GB of internal memory and Android 2.1. One of the biggest and most interesting of the tablets features is that it has limited access to the internet and other applications to keep kids safe and on task.

The Kineo from Brainchild can be pre-ordered right now for $299 each and will ship in March.
