Nokia has not been vocal about its commitment to MeeGo keeping tight lipped when bombared with Press inquiries. But the job board over a Nokia is telling us more then we have gotten out of Nokia in a few months. 19 Meego-related jobs have gone live over the last 30 days. If we thought their love for MeeGo might be waning one position in particular has popped up on our radar raise our hopes ever so slightly.
UX Product Manager/Designer – MeeGo
Emerging Devices is looking to do nothing short of transforming the PC industry, and pave the way for Nokia to connect the next billion people
This is a position inside Nokia’s Emerging Devices Division, in case you don’t follow Nokia too closely these are the guys who brought us the Booklet 3G. What makes us pay even closer attention is this division doesn’t actually do anything with phones, so it’s clear that they are looking to create a new MeeGo tablet or Netbook.
Sadly since this job posting just went live we aren’t sure when we’ll start seeing products. There was a leak last month of a questionable Nokia tablet a photo of which you’ll find below. So hopefully we’ll be seeing products sooner rather then later. We do have to wonder if these guys aren’t due for a few sleepless nights since the Booklet 3G was launched in September of 2009. Hopefully they are going to have their hands full with MeeGo 1.2 coming to market in April and Intels Medfield starting to pop up. The first MeeGo tablet is rumoured to be launching in June so fingers crossed this is a hire to polish off a new device.
