More stuff on the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 in today. First, the Windows Social Media Team gives a quick walkthrough of some apps like OneNote (pictured below) and Excel. Second, there’s a detailed hands on over at the WordPress blog ep121.

The blog gives a walkthrough of all the features of the tablet with some videos as well. With his configuration of 4GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD, Windows 7 gives a WEI score of 3.2 with that 3.2 coming from the lowest performing part – integrated HD graphics. The Intel Core i5 processor scores 5.5 and the hard disk gets a nice 5.9 thanks to the SSD on board, with also helps boot up Windows 7 in 28 seconds. Battery life clocks in at 3.5 – 4 hours for “work related activities” which includes a nice dose of YouTube viewing, and 3 hours for DVD viewing, full screen.

Turns out the display may not actually be IPS as ASUS claims but AFFS+ – similar in performance to IPS in terms of color gamut and viewing angles and the ‘+’ version increases outdoor viewability by increasing brightness  - there’s discussion about this display on the the Eee Pad EP121 on the Tablet PC Review forums. Then again it might not even be AFFS+. Newegg lists the displays as MVA. Either way, both are way better than the typical TN typically found on most devices.

While Amazon.com still doesn’t have an estimated shipping date for the EP121, the Microsoft Store estimates shipping on February 7.

Your demo of Excel was extremesuperficial. Lets see the touchability, the pen use, and something practical other than arrowkey manipulation.
