The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is essentially a netbook with a detachable screen. It has a 10.1″ IPS touch-screen sports a Android 3.0 operating system with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. You will be able to rock out with Adobe Flash, smooth HD video conferencing and playback.

The netbook form factor is surprisingly optional as the docking station is an accessory. This option however turns the the Transformer into a full-fledged notebook with a full QWERTY keyboard for desktop use. The battery life is also extending battery life up to 16 hours. The front camera is 1.2-megapixel and rear 5-megapixel there is also a mini-HDMI port.

Expect it to run you $400- $700 this coming April.

Should have been win 7 to take full advantage of the keyboard and touchpad versatility… totally wasted on android. Hardly a notebook with a phone os running on it.

win7 wouldn’t run well on this hardware. The 121 has win7, with intel Core 2 Duo CULV processor with enough juice to run win7. Unfortunately this also means a much lower battery life then the tegra2 models. There’s a reason asus decided NOT to release win7 on tegra hardware, and that decision should be much applauded. Who in their right mind would want to run win7 on a tablet anyways?

As for android/keyboard&mouse, they come in really handy when doing just about ANYTHING on the net. Email? Facebook? Blog? Plug in the keyboard and you can do all that faster with extended battery life. As for versatility, some of us would much prefer droid over win7 anyways. I being one of those, am very happy asus has decided to ship droid models.
