Update: There are more videos up from Blogeee – EeePC.it has a transcript covering all the videos that reads well enough with Google’s translator. Some tidbits – battery life lasts 4 – 5 hours on WiFi. Pressure sensitivity support on the pen side of things.

I wasn’t expecting to hear any more about ASUS’ tablet lineup until a few more days but there you have it – the folks at Blogeee have unboxed the upcoming ASUS Eee Slate EP121 12-inch Slate tablet already! The video is not in English so I can’t tell what the blogger’s first impressions are.

Design looks great to me. Air vents on the back to cool the Core i5 processor parts. Built-in stylus (with fine tip) in one corner – hello active digitizer. Makes sense since the tablet will be over $1,000 and aimed at professionals. Around the sides are a couple of full sized USB ports, HDMI, headphone jack, volume rocker and SD card reader as well as the power, lock and another button.

No sign of the keyboard dock that turns the tablet into a regular notebook, perhaps that’s sold separately?

Windows 7 on tablets is irrelevant. It’s just not meant for that form factor.

Duh. The commenter to whom you’re responding thinks that “tablet” is a type of form factor. Not only does “tablet” refer to a type of computing, but Windows 7 offers more tablet computing features than any operating system ever. It doesn’t even matter what “form factor” the computer has. It can be a slate. It can be a clamshell. It can be a convertible. It just needs the right hardware, and then software is good enough to do the rest.

This guy probably thinks that tablet means “pinch to zoom”, “on screen keyboard”, and lots of “swiping” and “poking” at the screen with his finger. In reality, tablets are powerful, productive computers which by their very definition don’t REQUIRE keyboards and never REQUIRE you to touch the screen with your finger. Top-tier companies have been making outstanding Windows tablets for years, and it’s nice to see that Asus is making a Windows 7 tablet that offers the kind of hardware, like an active digitizer, that matches what the software can do. Go ahead and buy a tablet peripheral from Wacom that connects to your computer over USB, attach it to your Apple and Android slate, and cry yourself to sleep over how incompetent your little toy is at tablet computing. Meanwhile, the commenter to whom you’re responding probably drinks the water from his toilet and then complains about how it’s just not very good beer. Duh.
