What happens if the battery of a Netbook – in this case has a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 – has a short circuit and went up in flames? Hannah from the U.S. can answer this question with photo’s that you get holes in the floor. She got her her Mini 9 a few weeks ago unplugged it and placed in the living room floor, then suddenly heard a popping sound and the room was filled with smoke.
Apparently there was a massive failure in the power supply, so that the battery caught fire. Under hissing noises and always clouds of smoke from burning the Mini, which ultimately caused a nasty burn mark in the ground. After some time, but was quiet again, but when Hannah said the thing with the foot a push, went on the fireworks. Dell has been quick to remedy the situation with an upgraded laptop being sent over to the young lady and the melted machine packed off to the labs for inspection, though there’s no mention of compensation for the owner’s scarred floor and mind
Dell also hasn’t been very forth coming about what they think might have caused the problem. But we hope that they let us know what the problem is, as I had a Dell once that I had to send back to get the battery replaced. It would be nice for them to come up with something to set our minds at ease, in the mean time, What do you think might have caused the problem??
