Slashgear has an interesting piece up about a new tablet being shown at CES 2010 (possibly as part of Nvidia’s promised showcase of hardware sporting the new Tegra chips), the as-yet-unnamed tablet from Notion Ink is promising a lot, including a two-mode 10″ display from Pixel Qi that can function either as a regular full-colour panel or an e-reader-esque low contrast matte display for longer battery life or use outside.  This would be the first device launched to use this new type of display.

The tablet also includes 3G data, Wifi (only B/G), Bluetooth, as well as a A-GPS, digital compass and an accelerometer, and the unit has USB and HDMI connections and 3MP autofocus webcam.  The battery life claims from Notion Ink are impressive too – 48 hours on standby, 16 hours of browsing and 8 hours of HD video playback. They’ve not made it clear what kind of battery is inside, so it’s unclear if this battery life is the result of a giant battery or the new Tegra chip paying dividends.  Price is also, at this point, unknown – but given the impressive specs it remains to be seen if they can bring it to market at a price consumers are happy to pay for a tablet.

Pop over to Slashgear for the full story, including spec sheet.
