The folks over at Ubergizmo have put their ear to the ground and discovered that the next generation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab to is going to sport NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chipset. We heard yesterday on Digitimes that Samsung was going to be releasing a Tegra 2 tablet. This could be an interesting deviation as Samsung has been using their own dual core Hummingbird processor in its current version. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens at CES next month!

I don’t think that the current version of the Tab uses a dual-core processor.

It uses a single-core Cortex-A8 level Hummingbird which has the 1/3 – 1/2 of the computing power of Tegra2.

However, using Tegra2 doesn’t make sense for Sammy, since their Orion SOC (that is dual core Cortex-A9) should be nearing mass-production.

Nah this isnt true, just a rumor thats making the rounds, Samsung like using in house technology due to the level of control they have over it, My bet is SAMOLED 2 (Or SLCD 2) and The next generation of humming bird. Dual core and probably 2 ghz

That’s what I was thinking why would Samsung use someone else’s chips when they already created their own which are better.

You had it…right up until added “which are better”. The reason Samsung wouldn’t use another producer products isn’t because Samsung’s are better. The reasons would be that Samsung’s are Samsung’s, and they can get them cheaper because they can make them.
