Many folks took notice of Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s comment regarding the available of Chrome OS devices at last week’s Web 2.0 Summit – “in the next few months“. So Chrome OS netbooks are arriving next year? Yes, at least from third parties. That’s what we can infer from Acer who said during the Acer press conference the other day they are launching a Chrome OS netbook next year during the “consumer launch” of the OS.
However, we will see an early preview or beta form of Chrome OS this year (there are still bugs to iron out) and perhaps even a Google branded Chrome OS netbook next month for developers or early adopters. That’s what Engadget’s sources say. It’s a similar story from Techcrunch who we’re told “We’re not going into details at this point” from Google in regards to what will occur before the year’s end.
