MeeGo is going cross platform and in Vehicle Entertainment is on their road map, at the MeeGo conference in Dublin we got to see a demo of it in action. In the video below take a look at a dash board UI is hooked up to a fuel injection system. ICS has put together this demo using QML with a C++ backend using a Lenovo S10-3t. The graphics were done in photoshop and are responsive in real time. We also get to see the UI for the in vehicle entertainment including switching between apps. The demo focuses on the only app they currently have working which is the radio app. You can switch between an mp3 player, Sirus radio as well as am/fm radio in a this interface.

It is a great proof of concept and a first step in showing off this cross platform UI, implementing such software into actual vehicles is still a long way off. If you remember back to the cars whose windows would open and close on their own and trunks pop open while moving. The automotive industry has rigorous testing in place to avoid such incidents. Even though this is a few years away from actually showing up in your car, its a great demonstration of the potential of this platform.
