At the end of last month, E FUN launched the NextBook Next2 – a budget Android tablet / e-reader which comes preloaded with Borders book store for purchasing books online. With the same Borders app, same price and similar specs it’s in the same line as the Cruz Reader.

The specs – Android 1.5 “or above”, 7″ 800x 480 resistive touchscreen display, 128MB RAM, 2GB memory, 802.11b/g WiFi, SD card slot and audio jack. No word on CPU. HSN.com lists various supported video and audio formats.

The Next2 is now available at HSN.com priced at $199.

I purchased two of these and was quite excited for a budget unit to read on and casually check email and have access to web. One of them will not connect to borders books, so I can not download books.
They are very slow on internet and the touch screen is not very responsive…you have to tap pretty solidly for it to respond.
They have Android 1.2 on them and after checking the mfg website, no hint of OS update. The application market is not Android market and it is set by default NOT to install anything not in android market so its a pain. The apps available in the pre-installed market are few.
I’m sending both back, as my frustration level is at its peak trying to work with these tablets.
I guess you get what you pay for…….

My husband just gave me one for my birthday and I’m experiencing the same thing…still debating on whether to send back but pretty sure I will.

I ordered 2 of these for gifts and neither one works properly. Won’t connect to Borders Books, other keeps force closing on browser. (yes, I clear cache/history etc). Both are very slow and even after repeatidly calibrating, it is still hard to get the correct info entered..it is very painful trying to do email or enter web addresses etc.
These ereaders look good and are easy to read books on (if you can get connected to borders to download books) but other than reading on these, do NOT waste your money on this POS.
Very slow, very unresponsive, old version of android OS (not supported by current android market apps or ereader apps) and the mfg technical support is non-existant.
Sending both of these units back to HSN, they are crap.
