Coby’s now in on the tablet craze as well with the MID7005, or the Kyros Internet Tablet which was announced last month. It’s a budget 7-inch Android tablet that will be available by the end of the year exclusively at for $300. If you’re into low end, rebranded Chinese tablets will old flavours of Android, then by all means, read on.

That $300 nets you an ARM11 processor (ARM1176) clocked at 800 MHz, 7-inch 800 x 480 resistive touchscreen, Android 2.1, 4GB storage through SD card, 802.11b/g WiFi, USB 2.0, HDMI, headphone jack, a 3,600 mAh battery and a few accessories – stylus, case, headphones and USB cable. There’s support for 1080p video playback. Has AppsLib marketplace. (see product page)

The tablet has been bought and unboxed by a member of the Android Tablets forum. Only basic apps have been pre-installed, no Android market, no file manager! but it has an excellent touchscreen, WiFi worked well and videos played back without issue. Discussion suggests it’s a rebranded HSG X5A.
