Windows Phone 7 smartphones are apparently off to a good start and the new revamped Metro UI looks very slick. Some of you might think that it’d make a good choice for smaller sized, less powerful tablets but apparently the OS won’t be making it’s way onto tablets, Microsoft mentioned earlier this year and again at the recent Windows Phone 7 launch that it has set a rough limit to about 4 inches in screen size. So it looks like vanilla Windows 7 on tablets for now and perhaps something like Microsoft’s rumored Media Center based touch friendly UI on top at a later date. Of course many appreciate having a full blown OS on a tablet to get real work done.

No need for Win7 Phone for Tablets, just Windows 7 Hone or Pro works just fine, what has held it up is a true MultiTouch functionality, which requires Acoustiic Touch Screens, which have been delayed by the manufacturers becuase of legacy ADC & MSIC between the screen sensors and the ARM A-9, or Intel Atom D520, requires 2 CPUs, 4 threads, and HyperThreading capablity!

If we’re talking the low end consumer space (which we cover).. I’d say hardware is the main culprit. Prices too high and performance, battery life too low.
